A zeitgeist for the slick and confusing 1970’s. A gateway to jazz. Lyrics about strangers and vagabonds on the margins of society. A filter to weed out the rock and roll bands that can’t play fancy chords. Steely Dan is an impossible band, like if weird cousins of the Beatles met up with weird cousins of Duke Ellington.
Brothers Jonathon and Jeremy Hegg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota are joining forces with some of the area’s finest musicians to bring to you an evening of Steely Dan music. You’ll hear all the hits and you’ll hear great performances from Matt Wallace (Maynard Ferguson) on saxophone, Ron Cooley (Mannheim Steamroller) on guitar, and percussionist Michael Pujado, drummer Greg Ahl, trumpeter Jim Speirs, and vocalist Julia Olynyk.
We’re excited for November 1st at the Jewell, and we’re excited for the response we have received for this project. We hope you join us for Citizen Steely Dan.
