NORMAN LOVE

Born in Omaha,Ne. Love began playing Saxophone at age 13 Preston Love taught him the fundamentals, before enlisting several Los Angeles studio musician friends, due to his busy schedule which included legends such as Red Holloway, Clifford Solomon, Ed Synigal, and several players from Ray Charles, QuincyJones, John Mayall, and B.B king Ensembles.  Saxophonists such as Plas Johnson credited with creating the Yakety Sax style on records such as Charlie Brown (he’s also heard as Mancini’s original Pink Panther Sax) were regulars at the Love Home on Western Ave.  In L.A. Young Norm was soaking up the styles of many fine, creative Sax men before he could execute the chromatic scale which Preston assigned him to practice as first lesson (every note on the horn).  Curtis Amy was another friend and sometimes co-section member of Prestons.  His style lives on, as the Soprano soloist on Carol Kings “Its too Late”.  Norman Considers constant exposure to these players as his early ear training.  His father and many musicians
often praise his quick ear enabling him to memorize tricky or intricate parts with just a couple hearings.
