We’ve instituted a number of new measures to help insure the health and comfort of our guests.

These steps include but aren’t limited to:

MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY INTO THE JEWELL

Laminated/Protected Menus which are sanitized and wiped between uses
Black Nitrite Gloves to be used and replaced throughout shift
Sanitation stations at host stand and within the club
Fresh table linens between every set
Face masks for all employees
Limited seating and distance restrictions
Tables limited to parties of six
Accepting all sick requests from staff and performers
Enforcing self-quarantine for staff members who travel

RYAN KISOR – TRUMPET

 

Ryan Kisor was born on April 12, 1973 in Sioux City, Iowa, and began playing trumpet at age four. In 1990 he won first prize at the Thelonious Monk Institute’s first annual Louis Armstrong Trumpet Competition.

Kisor has been a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra since 1994. He has performed and/or recorded with the Mingus Big Band, the Gil Evans Orchestra, Horace Silver, Gerry Mulligan, and Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, the Philip Morris Jazz All-Stars, and others. In addition to being an active sideman, Kisor has recorded several albums as a leader including Battle Cry (1997), The Usual Suspects (1998), and Point of Arrival (2000).

MITCH TOWNE – ORGAN

Mitch Towne is a keyboardist and touring musician, and is widely considered as the “go-to” Hammond organist in the Midwest. His ability to move seamlessly between diverse styles has made him a sought-after side-man with artists as varied as jazz/R&B artist and Grammy-winning producer Terrace Martin, jazz heavyweights Ryan Kisor, Dave Stryker and Adam Larson, blues artists Eric Gales and Ben Poole, and multi-platinum artist Aloe Blacc. In 2015, Towne played organ on the track “Push” for the album “Velvet Portraits” by Terrace Martin, which was nominated for a 2016 Grammy for “Best R&B” album.

JOHN KIZILARMUT – DRUMS

Percussion teacher John K

John Kizilarmut is a percussion teacher at the Kansas City School of Music. He has performed with a wide range of artists and groups including Aretha Franklin, Doc Severinsen, Matt Wilson, Jimmy Heath, Branford Marsalis, Logan Richardson, Clark Terry, New York Voices, Ana Gasteyer, Conspirare, Shirley Jones, DJ Starscream, and the Des Moines Symphony

He is also frequent guest performer and clinician at percussion and jazz festivals throughout the midwest. Additionally, he was a featured artist at the PASIC convention in 2013.

Mr. Kizilarmut is also an active composer and arranger. His works have been featured by many award winning music programs, including the 2013 State Jazz champion Waukee High School Jazz Ensemble, Lake Central High School Band, several DCI Drum Corps, and the University of Texas percussion ensemble.

John has served as a percussion teacher on the faculties of Drake University, Grinnell College, and Northwest Missouri State University.

He currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife Nicole and son Evan.

 DANNY EMBREY – GUITAR

Kansas City-based Danny Embrey has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading jazz guitarist. In addition to recording and playing concerts, festivals and club dates, Embrey is in demand as an arranger, composer and producer.

Danny Embrey toured and performed during the 1980s with Sergio Mendes and Clare Fischer’s Latin Band. With the Sergio Mendes Band, he traveled the globe. “My first trip with Sergio was seven weeks in Europe; then, we went to South Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, and Australia.” He recalls playing for King Hussein in Jordan and the Reagans in the East Room of the White House. There were also television appearances on Solid Gold, The Merv Griffin Show, and The Johnny Carson Show.

While in the Los Angeles area he also toured and/or recorded with such notables as Gary Foster, Steve Houghton, Alan Broadbent, Gene Harris, Bob Brookmeyer, Bob Sheppard, Barry White, Shelly Manne, Monty Budwig, Annie Ross, Sam Most, and Leroy Vinnegar.

When Embrey left the Sergio Mendes group, he moved to Seattle, WA where he would spend the next two years. Living in the Seattle area gave him the opportunity to work the local area, continue to work the west coast, and to begin a new ph
